Research around the shape, symbol of birth, creation and protection. These different eggs with unique perfect shapes and similar proportions are carved in some of the strangest, rarest, most precious and most dangerous materials on earth.

The Egg series seeks to highlight natural elements and also those resulting from human intervention. Rare, strange, precious, and/or dangerous elements carved to the Mestrovic’s proportions of an egg. The egg is a symbol linked to the birth of the world in a universal way. Celts, Greeks, Egyptians, Phoenicians, Canaanites, Tibetans, Hindus, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and many others have seen throughout history, and with their own subtleties, the same enigma .

Carved both in 52 cm indoor form or 3 meters outdoor form.

The in-situ pieces are meant to be exposed around the four corners of the globe, like a gigantic Easter egg hunt. Placed in harmony with their environment and like time capsules, they will bear witness to what our world was like during this very short time on the scale of The Universe.
